This central Coniston hotel pub advertises ‘we welcome dogs’ on the site, and the service is correct (they can even get a sausage sizzle at brekkie)! If you want to bring a (small) furry friend, you must make a reservation by calling the hotel reception. After a day exploring the lakes, come back to the comfort of pizza and craft beer, and a clean and comfortable room. Let a member of the team know, and your furry friend can come along for the ride, for an extra £10 per dog per night. They should not be left unattended in the room, and should always be kept on a lead. Enjoy everything from breakfast and morning coffee, to snacks, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner in the pub – make sure you check with the owner and staff to ensure you make the most of the amazing Lake District.

Located in the cottages next to the main house, these lake view rooms offer a spacious bedroom and open lounge, overlooking the lake. Dogs are not allowed in the covered lounge or restaurant, but dog-friendly dining can be enjoyed by the atmospheric inglenook fireplace and in the bar area.
The Inn Collection Group offers pet-friendly accommodation in its locations, but we love the Ambleside Inn for its location in the heart of the bustling town of Ambleside and its recent refurbishment. Ambleside Inn is very dog friendly, welcoming dogs in almost every part of the hotel. In the summer the dog is only kept on the first floor as the top floor is warmer – a real treat! 80% of the bar can be accessed by dogs (a small part is kept dog-free for those with allergies), so you can enjoy your dog all day. They sell dog snacks and drinks from a great little company called Sir Woofchesters at the bar, and have a keg in the beer garden filled with fresh cold water to keep the doggo hydrated (alongside free dog snacks at the bar, for ‘good boys’). Only £10 per night per dog is charged for this.

Muddy shoes and feet are welcome at Coniston Inn, another Inn Group hotel. This newly renovated lakeside inn is a dog walker’s paradise, and will make any pup feel right at home. With private grounds that contribute to the surrounding woodland, their dog room is perfectly appointed for an overnight stay with a furry friend, at a cost of just £10 per night per pet.
This modern hotel in Barrow in Furness is just off the A590, just 10 minutes from Barrow. Estuary views and bright, spacious rooms are enough to make anyone feel at home – let them know when booking, and your dog can stay with you in your room and in the bar and restaurant. Walk down to the estuary, or enjoy the hotel’s beautiful grounds, nestled in a quiet country lane – perfect for taking the dog out. Pets stay at £15 per pet per night.
