However, between May and September, restrictions on our four-legged family members change in many Kent coastal towns, resulting in different rules for the summer months.

On its website, Canterbury City Council states that most beaches are dog-friendly and that pets are welcome all year round.
However, it is important to note that there are two specific beaches in the area where dogs are not allowed between May 1 and September 30:
From Herne Bay Pier west to Lane End, dogs are not allowed on the beach between May and September. They should also be kept on a leash on outings, according to the council.
Dogs are not allowed on Tankerton Beach from Pier Avenue West to The Street. Pets must then be kept on a leash on the promenade.
Dog Walk At Reculver Beach
Two areas of the Thanet district – both in Pegwell Bay – do not allow dogs on the beach at any time of the year. This rule applies to muds and salt marshes.
Dogs must be kept in the following areas between 10 A.M. and 6 p.m.
However, from 1 May to 30 September, dogs are prohibited on the following Thanet beaches between 10am and 6 p.m.
In Dover, as in other areas, there have been some changes since May 1 that dog owners may need to be aware of.
Kent’s Dog Friendly Beaches
From May 1 to September 30 – from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
However, leashed dogs are welcome year-round on piers and boardwalks between the same two spots.
Dogs must be leashed all year round on both the walks and lawns at Dover Beach. It runs from the Union Street roundabout junction to the Jubilee Way roundabout and also includes Marine Parade and Granville Gardens.
From 1 May to 30 September, dogs must remain off Dover Sea, Waterloo Crescent and the Sea Parade between 9am. and 6 p.m.
List Of Dog Friendly Beaches In Kent
Dogs are excluded from the mud and salt marshes of Sandwich Bay and must be kept on a lead on the Princes Bay Golf Course Dunes Path.
From 1 May to 30 September, dogs are not allowed on the beach from the SW end of the slip to Ness Point from 9am. until 6 p.m.
Dogs must also be on a leash year-round on the boardwalk, parking lots and all other recreational areas.
According to Swale District Council, there are three areas on the Isle of Sheppey where dogs are not allowed from May 1 to September 30, and dogs must be kept on a lead even on outings.
